Prohibited items policy

Effective: 2026-07-01

This list summarises categories of shipments that may not be booked through Deliver Hub. It is not exhaustive — you remain responsible for compliance with Indian law and your selected courier partner's own restricted-items list.

1. Absolute prohibitions

These items may never be booked, regardless of courier partner or service level:

  • Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS Act, 1985)
  • Arms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, and imitation firearms
  • Live animals, human remains, and biological hazards
  • Radioactive material (IAEA Class 7) and infectious substances (Class 6.2)
  • Corrosive substances (Class 8) without a declared shipper permit
  • Indian and foreign currency, bullion, precious metals, and stones
  • Counterfeit goods and items infringing third-party intellectual property
  • Obscene material as defined under the IPC, Section 292
  • Wildlife products regulated under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972

2. Courier-specific prohibitions

Individual couriers layer additional restrictions on top of the list above — batteries, aerosols, alcohol, certain electronics, and perishables are the most common. See our couriers page for partner-specific restricted item lists.

3. Dangerous goods (DG) & hazmat

Shipments containing lithium batteries, magnets, aerosols, dry ice, or any UN Class 1–9 substance must be declared during booking and are subject to the shipper declaration flow. Handling follows the applicable IATA-DGR (air) or IMDG (sea) codes. Undeclared DG shipments are grounds for immediate account suspension and reporting to the authorities.

4. Consequences of a prohibited shipment

If a shipment is found to contain prohibited items after pickup, Deliver Hub will (a) cancel the shipment without refund, (b) report the incident to the courier partner and, where applicable, to Indian law-enforcement agencies, and (c) suspend the merchant's account pending review. Repeat offences result in permanent termination and forfeiture of any wallet balance held to cover consequential losses.

5. Questions

If you are unsure whether an item is shippable, contact compliance@deliverhub.in before booking. For grievance escalations see our Grievance Officer page.
